What is PDR?
PDR, or Paintless Dent Repair, is a method of removing dents and dings without affecting the paint. At DENTcrafters we very patiently massage the dent from the backside of the panel .... sometimes the dent can be repaired from the front side using specialized tools.
What are the benefits of PDR?
The most important benefit is quality. When completed, this repair method is the closest one can get to the dent never happening in the first place. DENTcrafters does no grinding ... we use no bondo or fillers and primers are never needed because your factory paint is not disturbed. Unlike conventional body work, there is no worry about paint shrinkage or problems with filler months after the repair.
What will it cost me?
A typical estimate for a minor dent the size of a golfball at a body shop usually ranges between $250 - $500 or higher. That same dent ... repaired by DENTcrafters can usually be repaired for $75 - $150 using PDR. (If you go to the "PHOTOS & Price" tab in the upper left hand corner, you can see some example repairs with pricing guidelines). Time savings is yet another advantage. Most dents can be fixed in less than one hour whereas a body shop will take 3 - 5 days or longer. REMEMBER ... when available we can come to repair your dent/s at the location of your choosing.
Will my paint be damaged?
No. Today's factory paints are very flexible and will not be damaged in any way by this process. PDR is the only way to repair a dent while keeping your factory paint.
Will the dents be completely removed?
On minor dents and in most cases ... yes. The deeper the dent is, the more difficult it is to repair. On larger dents most people are amazed at the results performed in front of their eyes and in many cases ... with their supervision. Before we start any repair, we will explain to you in detail what your car will look like after the repair is completed.
Will the dents come back?
Absolutely not. Once a dent has been removed using PDR, it never comes back. Most dents repaired conventionally develop a ring around the dent or sand scratch marks 3 - 6 months after the repair. This is never the case with a DENTcrafters repair.
Can ALL dents be fixed?
No. The most important factors in determining if a dent can be repaired by PDR are depth and location. Dents the size of a dinner plate or larger can be fixed successfully as long as they are not too deep or twisted. On the other hand, some dents that are as small as a dime and very deep, cannot be fixed using PDR because the metal is too stretched. Cracked paint can also be an indication that a dent is too deep. The most common dents fixed are the size of a golf ball and under. 95% of minor dents can be repaired. About 5% of minor dents cannot be fixed due to depth or location. Areas such as some quarter panel opening lips, some forward areas of heavily braced hoods, or the very edges of some panels are examples of bad locations.
What does "no drilling" mean?
It has become common practice by many PDR technicians to drill or punch holes in places like door frames, quarter panel jambs, inner wheelhouse panels and elsewhere to gain access to a dent with their tools. Most of the time the customer is not even informed of this. I have seen "repairs" where as many as 7 - 10 holes were drilled to access one dent. DENTcrafters will always take the extra time to repair a dent without drilling. In the event that there is no other way to repair a dent without creating access behind the damage ... you will be advised of this and the choice will be yours. If a small hole is necessary, it will be rust-proofed and factory plugged.
Do you do scratch repair or paint work?
YES, we do. We will have to perform paint work at our shop on Hampden in Denver.
Can DENTcrafters help me with my LEASE RETURN?
We sure can. We can remove those dents for a lot less than you will be charged for "excessive wear and tear on your vehicle's exterior". If your lease is up soon then give us a call ... you'll be glad you did.
I've got a lot of dents ... do you offer a discount for more than one dent?
Yes ... we offer discounts for multiple dents. If you have more than one minor dent on a panel we can generally include those dents for very little extra. If your car has a lot of minor dents, we offer a per car price that is very reasonable.
CAN PDR help me SELL my car?
Ever hear the saying "Image Is Everything"? Most people judge a car by its' appearance. If it looks good, they assume it has been well taken care of. Used car dealers and wholesalers know this. They also know that what they spend on PDR will make them many times over what that cost and it will help them sell their car quicker. If you are selling your car ... PDR is one of the best ways to get top dollar ... more interested buyers and a quicker sale.
Thank you for asking ....
